Isle Saint-Paul was its first name.    <\/p>\n<p>In the years and centuries that followed, Verdun underwent major transformations, evolving from an agricultural territory to an industrial center, and then to an urban, residential and modern living environment. Incorporated in 1876, Verdun became a town in 1907, then a city in 1912.
